Indium (In) is an important supporting material for modern high-tech industries. It has excellent characteristics such as good ductility, strong plasticity, low melting point, high boiling point, low resistance, corrosion resistance, and good light permeability and conductivity. It is widely used in aerospace, electronic industry, medical, national defense, high-tech, energy and other fields.
The production of ITO targets using metallic indium (used for producing liquid crystal displays and flat screens) is the main consumer area of indium ingots. ITO targets and emerging indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO) targets account for 80% of global indium consumption.
In the 1990s, ITO target technology began to develop rapidly. Due to its excellent optical and electrical properties, ITO targets were widely used in the field of display panels, such as transparent electrodes in liquid crystal displays (LCD), plasma displays (PDP), electroluminescent displays (EL/OLED), and touch panels.
